Fort Charlotte — St Vincent & the Grenadines

British fort completed 1806 on Berkshire Hill above Kingstown, with sweeping views to Bequia and the Grenadines; the former officers' quarters now house a small museum on Black Carib/Garifuna history and the fort's own layered past as poorhouse, leper colony, mental hospital and (until 2015) women's prison.
