Rhum Depaz (Distillerie Depaz)

Founded 8 May 1917 by Victor Depaz (béké industrialist) on Habitation La Montagne at the foot of Montagne Pelée; operating entity is Exploitations agricoles de la montagne Pelée SA. AOC Martinique agricultural rum (50°, 55°, paille, aged, aged-reserve ranges); medal-winning since the 1922 Marseille Exposition. Visitor château/grounds (~EUR5 entry) display the island's oldest steam engine and an 18th-c. animal-powered mill, plus a tasting room/shop. Mon-Fri 10:00-17:00, Sat 9:00-16:00 (château closed Mondays). Also now distills the AOC rum for sister brand Dillon, whose own Fort-de-France site no longer distills on-site.
