Rhum J.M (Distillerie J.M / Habitation Fonds Préville)
Estate at Fonds Préville (164ha domain acquired 1790 by Antoine Leroux-Préville); distillery founded 1845 by merchant Jean-Marie Martin, whose initials name the brand. Sited at the foot of Montagne Pelée between two rivers — widely promoted as the highest-altitude operating rum distillery in the Caribbean, using exclusively estate-grown cane (4 varieties). Acquired 2002 by Groupe Bernard Hayot from the Crassous de Médeuil heirs (operated as SCA Héritiers Crassous de Médeuil / Rhum J.M Distribution). AOC Martinique. Free visits and tastings, Mon-Fri 9:00-16:30, Sat 9:00-14:00; machinery best seen in harvest season (mid-March to late June). 'Fonds-Préville' is the name of the J.M estate itself, not a separate distillery.
