Caribbein — Help
Questions, answered.
The things people actually ask us, answered plainly — before you have to write. If yours is not here, the bottom of the page tells you where a human reads everything.
Travelling
Booking, paying, changing your mind.
How do I book something?
Send a request from any listing — no account exists until that moment, and signing in is just your phone number and a one-time code. The concierge connects you directly with the provider, and you settle payment with them. Try the walkthrough to see the whole flow first.
Why can't I pay online?
Deliberately. During the open beta, bookings are not processed online: the concierge connects both sides and payment settles directly with the provider — nothing sits between you and a person on your island. Card payment arrives after launch, and we would rather ship it right than ship it early.
Is this legitimate?
Fair question — check for yourself. Caribbein SAS (in formation) is registered in Saint-Martin 97150; the legal notice and privacy policy are published; and the technical pages at /geek and /engineering document how this is built, with numbers you can verify yourself.
Can I change or cancel a request?
Tell us in the same thread and we tell the provider. Since no payment runs through us in beta, there is nothing to unwind on our side — whatever you arranged with the provider directly is between you and them, like any direct booking.
Which islands actually work today?
Start on the marketplace — every island page shows what is actually there, and we mark honestly what is not bookable yet. The deepest coverage today is Saint-Martin / Sint Maarten, Anguilla and Saint-Barthélemy; the rest of the Caribbean is filling in island by island.
English or French?
Both, everywhere, as equals — the toggle sits top-right on every page, and the catalogue itself is bilingual in its rows, not machine-translated on the fly. Our build fails if a string misses either language.
You run a business here
Your listing, your photos, your terms.
My business is listed and I never signed up. Why?
The catalogue is built from what businesses already publish to be found — the island's official tourism sources first, then your own site and pages — under an explicit image-rights model, so travellers can discover you the way a good guidebook would. You stay in charge: claim the listing free at /claim, correct anything, or ask for it to be removed — see below. How we built it, in detail: the cataloguing note.
What does it cost me?
The listing is free. The operating system for your business is free. The only charge is a flat 10% commission on bookings that come through Caribbein — and 20% of that commission is reinvested on the island it came from. No subscriptions, no tiers, no setup fees. Bookings you take directly cost you nothing, ever.
How do I claim my listing?
Go to caribbein.fr/claim, verify with your phone and a one-time code — two checks, a few minutes. From there you edit your information, hours and photos yourself, and any booking request reaches you directly.
Something on my listing is wrong.
Fastest: claim it and fix it yourself — you know your business better than any catalogue. Or write to welcome@caribbein.fr from the business and we correct it.
Can you remove my listing or my photos?
Yes. Write from the business to welcome@caribbein.fr: photos come down on request, and if you want the whole listing gone, we take it down. We would rather hear what is wrong so we can fix it — but it is your business, not ours.
Do I need new hardware or software?
No. Everything is a web app — your phone or any computer, installable from the browser, built to open even when island internet has a moment. There is nothing to buy and nothing to install from a store.
You live here
The vote, the Games, joining us.
Where does the 20% actually go?
A fifth of every commission is reinvested on the island the booking came from — and islanders vote in the app on where it goes. The full argument, on a real map: /why.
When do the Games open?
October 1. Keep an eye on the app.
Can I work with you?
Every seat we hire first is on /join — with its salary floor printed and the honest part of each job on the card. Engineers should also read /engineering first; it is the real interview.
Press or investing?
The vision deck is at /pitch, the research at /why, and the investor door is in the footer of the home page. For anything else: welcome@caribbein.fr.
What about my data?
Plainly: a listing is public by design; your requests, conversations and documents never are. Identity documents live in private storage behind short-lived signed links, export and erasure are working flows, and the formal texts are the privacy policy. The longer, engineer-grade version is on /geek.
